About the course
This course focuses on legal and ethical obligations of clinical supervisors, with a focus on supervision of BBS associates (ACSWs, AMFTs, APCCs) in California. We will cover the California Supervision Agreement and other relevant required forms for clinical supervisors. This course will cover critical issues related to supervision, including but not limited to liability, boundaries, informed consent, and confidentiality. This session will use didactic lecture, discussion,and vignettes to support affirmative clinical supervisors to provide supervision to BBS associates following legal requirements and ethical guidelines with an emphasis with either LGBTQIA+ associates or associates working with LGBTQIA+ clients.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to: 1.Describe at least 3 legal obligations for affirmative clinical supervisors 2.Describe at least 2 ethical obligations for affirmative clinical supervisors 3. Complete a Supervision Agreement in compliance with BBS requirements 4. Utilize the appropriate California forms required for clinical supervision of ACSWs, AMFTs, and APCCs
Your Presenter
Cadyn Cathers, PsyD, MBA (he/him/his) has been teaching courses on human sexuality, psychotherapy with LGBTQIA+ communities, and psychodynamic theory for over 10 years, and served as teaching faculty at Antioch University Los Angeles in the LGBT Specialization. He was the founder and CEO of The Affirmative Couch, which provided online continuing education on clinical work with LGBTQIA+, CNM, and kink communities. He is a licensed psychologist in private practice at the Out Couch Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, P.C., where he focuses on psychoanalytic psychotherapy with transgender and nonbinary patients.
